Massachusetts Hospital Data

PatientCareLink provides data about the quality and safety of hospital care. Hospitals use the data to improve care and to demonstrate to their communities that they stand accountable for their performance. Hospitals welcome transparency about their performance when measures are grounded in good science and account fairly for differences in the needs of their patients.

Data reporting for our hospitals are grouped into peer groups to compare unit types in similar type hospitals based on the number of licensed beds. For example, unit types in acute care hospitals are compared with unit types in other similar acute care hospitals. This is also consistent for inpatient rehabilitation hospitals and long term acute care hospitals.

Performance Measures

Allows patients to track a particular hospital’s efforts to meet the measure standards, and allows them to see how the hospital compares to “peer” hospitals of the same size

Staffing Plans & Reports

Please note: MHA and our member hospitals are committed to delivering the most reliable, transparent data on staffing. Due to the extreme and unprecedented challenges that hospitals are facing through the COVID-19 pandemic, it is not possible to accurately capture staffing data representative of 2020 and 2021. Other healthcare authorities across the country have also suspended data collection over the course of the pandemic, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). We look forward to resuming regular public posting of staffing plans and data in 2022 and 2023, should circumstances permit.

The participating hospital’s assigned Project Managers will receive an email from Massachusetts Health & Hospital Association alerting them that the next data collection cycle is open, along with the deadline for submission and the link to the PCL site to log in and enter data.
